Greetings, my name is Maxamillion. I attend Grants High School and I have been in Evolvement for 1 year. 24/7 works to achieve a tobacco free school in all aspects, whether it be possession, use or distribution.
Throughout my year with 24/7, I hosted events for various occasions in my school cafeteria with other 24/7 members. I set up booths in my school with a fellow member of 247 and we had engaging games and a prize wheel while also educating students about why having a tobacco-free school is important. Looking into the future I plan to do so much more for 24/7 and hopefully boost my outreach among students, parents and school faculty.
I believe others should start caring about tobacco-free schools because it not only affects the people using tobacco but everyone in the school if you want to be safe and engaged. I believe others should start caring because I think at its core school should be about learning, not worrying about other distractions. The larger impact of a tobacco-free school is important to me because I want to see people leave my town and do something great. It seems as the years go on people seldom leave my town as they graduate. Even if you don’t have children and you just care about the youth and want to see children thrive, I think the tobacco-free policies that we want to implement in schools will greatly benefit the community.
