My name is Kat, I am a senior at Arrowhead Park Early College High School and this is my third year in Evolvement. 24/7 is a campaign through Evolvement that works to keep New Mexico schools tobacco-free 7 days a week. Now that my brother is entering High school, this cause is even more important to me. I would like him to not get caught up with his peers who use tobacco.
I have participated in various campaign efforts to support tobacco-free schools events and promote safer learning environments for youth like my brother. I have done multiple events for 24/7, including School board meetings in districts in New Mexico, like presenting for the Aztec school board.
I feel others should care about tobacco free schools because these kids are the future. I feel the larger impact of a tobacco free policy is important as well because addiction can destroy their health and their lives. This is why I am involved with 24/7 and why I encourage others to participate and support in protecting New Mexico’s youth.
