24/7 Toolkit: Your Guide to Tobacco-Free Schools

Promoting a tobacco-free school environment can be challenging. Fortunately, 24/7 is able to provide schools with useful tools to help create a truly tobacco-free school environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

One of the resources available to schools is the New Mexico Tobacco-Free Schools Toolkit. The toolkit equips school staff and administrators with easy-to-use resources for policy communication and enforcement. Here are some of the resources that can be found in the toolkit:

  • Communication: Sample announcements, letters, and memos to ensure everyone within the school community is aware of the policy.
  • Compliance and Enforcement: Sample disciplinary actions for students and enforcement measures for visitors using tobacco on school grounds.
  • Cessation and Support: Resources for cessation and counseling available to students and staff who are struggling with tobacco addiction.

These along with many other tools are available in the toolkit, which can be obtained in a couple of different ways. Each school that requests signage will receive a hard copy of the 24/7 toolkit in their package of signs. The toolkit is also available for free download on the 24/7 website. Similar to all services offered by 24/7, the toolkit is free to all schools interested in strengthening the communication and enforcement of their tobacco policy, helping to create truly tobacco-free school environments.
